Stone Owl Scholars is an ongoing program for cleverly sharp high school juniors and seniors in the Abilene area. Invest 9 Sundays (1:00-3:00 pm) in your education. Earn a scholarship of $3,000 to $6,000. Stand out from the crowd. Sessions are offered three times a year and fill quickly so click here to learn more and sign up!

The Gates Scholarship

The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.

Amount: Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance* that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the methodology used by a Scholar’s college or university.

*Cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation, and may include other personal costs.

Be The Light Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Jordan Kirk. One of the main objectives of the Be The Light Scholarship is the promotion of education amongst high school seniors that have an interest in pursuing careers that will positively affect the lives of children. Candidates receiving education services through IEP, or 504 services will receive priority. 

Amount: $5,000

Big Country Manufacturing Alliance Scholarship

Graduating senior at one of our region’s high schools OR attending/planning on attending one of our region’s colleges pursuing a degree/certificate in, or related to, manufacturing.

Epprecht Family Foundation Scholarship

The Epprecht Family Foundation was started as a way of giving back to the communities which have supported the Epprecht family and Great Lakes Cheese. The aim of the foundation is to award a scholarship to a hardworking and deserving high school graduate who plans to get a degree in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) disciplines.

AMOUNT: This scholarship is awarded for up to $15,000 per year for up to 4 years for undergraduate education (2 years for a technical school and 4 years for a college or university).

Matched Horse Race Scholarship

Due to the success of the Matched Horse Races at the Western Heritage, the committee decided on two scholarships for senior students going on to a higher level of education in 2024. The education can be college, trade school, or any continuing education past high school.

Ft. Worth Scottish Rite Foundation Scholarship

It is not required that the student have any affiliation with Masonry. The student must be graduating in Spring or Summer 2024 from a high school or other secondary school in one of the 33 counties served by the Fort Worth Scottish Rite (refer to page 2 of the application for the list of counties). Students choosing either a 2-year or a 4-year college are eligible.

Abilene Woman’s Club Nelson Scholarship

Applicants must be:
-Graduating senior of a Taylor County, Texas public school
-GPA of at least 85
-Character and conduct above reproach
-Demonstrated need of financial aid to continue education

Male & Female students are eligible

Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union Scholarship

The credit union awards at least ten $1,500 scholarships each year to members graduating from high school. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement, extracurricular activities, work experience and evidence of financial responsibility. To be eligible, a potential applicant must be a primary member of ATFCU, meaning he/she has an account in his/her name. This account must have been established on or before November 13, 2023.

Hispanic Leadership Council Scholarship

The applicant must:

-Be Hispanic and/or of Hispanic descent and a U.S. citizen or a legal resident
-Apply to an accredited college, university, or trade school by the time of this application
-Be a full-time student, if in college (a minimum of 12 hours per semester)
-Have earned at least a 2.5 GPA
-Reside in a county serviced by Region 14 Service Center

Capital Farm Credit Youth Scholarship Program

Youth scholarships are awarded using the following eligibility requirements:

1. Funds shall be used to attend an accredited vocational or technical school, college or university.
Student must maintain full time status.
2. Applicants must be high school seniors, graduating within the current school year.
3. Applicant must demonstrate that they have a tentative educational plan and goals, related to
fields in agriculture or natural resources (may include Ag Communications, Ag
Economics/Business, Ag Education, Wildlife or Ranch Management, etc.).

Abilene Sports Alliance Scholarship

Through the efforts of the Abilene Sports Alliance and the generosity of our community, a $1,250 college scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female graduating student-athlete from both Abilene High School & Cooper High School.

Associated General Contractors West Texas Chapter Scholarship

Eligibility
1. Applicants shall be 2024 Spring semester high school graduates, be a current college undergraduate, or be working in the West Texas Chapter territory. Scholarships are for individuals pursuing two-year or four-year degree plans or an approved technical trades school in a construction related field.
2. Applicant shall be a U. S. citizen or be a documented permanent resident of the United States.
3. Preference shall be given to a relative or member of the West Texas AGC Chapter or an employee of a member; and further, that such Member shall have been an active member of the Chapter for two years prior to the application.

Texas Telephone Association Foundation Scholarship

The TTA Foundation awards six, 4-year scholarships, with $1,000.00 per full time fall and spring semester for a total of $8,000, per award. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2024, and award winners will be announced in late April 2024. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Kiwanis Club of Abilene CTE Scholarship

The Kiwanis Club of Abilene recognizes outstanding students in Abilene ISD CTE programs. Anyone can apply, but preference will be given to students who have concentrated in a specific CTE area (ie: taken 2 or more classes). Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Cooperative Response Center Scholarship

The Cooperative Response Center Foundation is pleased to announce its postsecondary education scholarship program for the 2024 school year, awarding up to $12,000 to high school seniors attending schools in the communities in which it works. CRC is a nationwide, cooperatively owned and operated, 24/7 contact center and alarm monitoring center.

Texas Tech Alumni Association Scholarship

Every year, the Texas Tech Alumni Association awards hundreds of scholarships funded by alumni contributions. These scholarships are awarded to deserving current undergraduate and graduate students as well as incoming freshmen, incoming graduate and transfer students. TTAA scholarships are awarded based on a variety of factors including ethnicity, academic merit and financial need. In fact, we were pleased to award nearly more than $650,000 in scholarship funding in 2023.
